We had such a fabulous response to our competition in May, it was just too difficult to select two winners so we decided to give six lucky people the opportunity to have a “Wedding Ready Go Wedding Consultation”.
We have been living the last 18 months in an alternate universe for destination weddings and although signs are looking good for travel – unless you buried your head in the sand and you would be forgiven for doing so – actual weddings have been few and far between.
We knew that as soon as we could take to the air again the destination wedding numbers would be off the scale. We wanted to make sure that all of you out there who are ready to say I do somewhere on the globe needed to be prepped and ready to go.
In May we also launched our Ultimate Wedding Abroad Planning Tool Kit. This is a MORE is MORE collection of wedding industry insight, checklists and spreadsheets that will keep you calm, organised and in control from the moment you say yes to a wedding abroad.
It is not only crammed with the practical knowledge it responds to the growing trend that couples also want a greater connection to their destination wedding. So whether this is going out and DIY-ing your wedding or deciding to go for partial planning you will have years of tried and tested suggestions to help you.
What came through loud and clear in the Prize Giveaway was that every couple had a different set of circumstances for deciding on a wedding abroad and that general advice would not really help them.
The Wedding Ready Go Consultation is designed to best support couples at different stages of wedding planning as well as an opportunity to have 90 minutes tailored to your own personal set of circumstances.
We thought it would be helpful to share with you some of the variety of situations that came up.
Couple 1 – Wedding in Croatia
Bride and groom living in Ireland and getting married in the groom’s home country of Croatia.
We were able to help with how to start planning, what to tackle first, guideline costs and legal process as well as how to go about sourcing reputable suppliers – there’s a great section about that in the Tool Kit!
“I would definitely recommend the consultation service to other couples like us, who are at the start of their journey with no idea of where to start or to couples who need specific help from someone knowledgeable in destination weddings. We gained so much from our consultation! We were essentially clueless and we learnt things we hadn’t even thought of especially regarding the legalities of getting married abroad.”
Couple 2 – Wedding in Italy
An Australian couple (with dual UK nationality) living in London and getting married at a friend’s vineyard in Tuscany.
They had already started some of the research, we were able to validate what they had done, as well as walk them through getting married in Italy as a UK citizen vs. Australian. We talked about options on how the day will flow and wedding day timeline, managing set up when the day would involve everyone being off site for the legal civil ceremony. Considerations about hosting events and a private venue that has not been used for weddings before.
Couple 3 – Wedding in France
A busy Irish couple living in London and about to return to Ireland and planning a wedding in France for 120 people. They have been held up with all the travel restrictions to see the short list of venues they have selected. We covered how managing a large group and hosting 3 days of celebrations could work. We looked at what services could eat into their budget and how to have a “cosy” feel when you have a big group.
Couple 4 – Wedding in Italy
A young and adventurous US based bride planning a wedding in Italy with her military partner based in a third country all while planning a move to join her fiancé. That one had some serious “how to” conversations.
We know that destination weddings will be back in full force, we believe the Ultimate Weddings Abroad Guide Toolkit and the Wedding Ready Go Consultation as individual resources or a combined service will be everything you need to move forward confidently.
